Community baby shower to offer health screenings, resources for Vicksburg families
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Mississippi State Department of Health and the Greater New Kingdom (GNK) HEARD Project of Cleveland are proud to announce the upcoming Community Baby Shower & Health Resource Fair, a family-focused event aimed at connecting residents with vital health and wellness resources. The event will take place on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Warren County–Vicksburg Public Library, located at 700 Veto Street.
In collaboration with community partners, including the Mississippi State Department of Health, United Way of West Central Mississippi, the City of Vicksburg, the GNK HEARD Project, and several health and family organizations, this event is designed to provide much-needed support to families in our community. Attendees will have access to free blood pressure, glucose, and HIV screenings; health workshops offering practical education; diapers and other family resources; giveaways; and much more.
“This event is about supporting and equipping families with the tools they need to lead healthier, more informed lives,” said Alderman Mayfield. “We are especially focused on supporting new and expecting parents while also connecting the community with critical care and services.”
Event organizer Joyce Roundtree-McCoy is excited about bringing these services to Vicksburg. “We are anticipating around 25 vendors to come and provide critical information at this event, in addition to multiple free giveaways for the attendees,” Roundtree-McCoy said.
Pre-registration is encouraged by August 25. Participants can register by scanning the QR code on the event flyer or visiting https://bit.ly/BabyHealthFair.
For more information, please contact Joyce Roundtree-McCoy at (662) 441-3552 or joycermccoy@gmail.com.
Let’s come together as a community to support families, promote wellness, and build a stronger Vicksburg.
With sincere gratitude,
Alderman TJ Mayfield
