East Avenue fire damages home, no injuries reported

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 1335 East Avenue late Saturday morning, bringing the blaze under control without any injuries reported, according to Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps.

At approximately 10:29 a.m., the Vicksburg Fire Department responded to the are of the 1300 block of East Avenue and arrived to find flames visible from inside the structure.

“Our crews initiated an interior attack and were able to get the fire under control quickly,” said Fire Chief Stamps. “Despite the damage to the building, there were no injuries, and we’re grateful for that.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
