Former Vicksburg educator John “Doc” Stephens wins AISA Teacher of the Year
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A former Vicksburg educator, John “Doc” Stephens, was recognized as the Alabama Independent School Association’s Teacher of the Year in Mississippi.
Former Vicksburg resident John “Doc” Stephens, who now resides in Meridian, Mississippi, and teaches at Russell Christian Academy, has been named the AISA Teacher of the Year.
In an announcement on social media, Russell Christian Academy said, “Join us in celebrating an incredible achievement! Russell Christian Academy is proud to recognize Mr. Stephens as the AISA Teacher of the Year.” The Academy praises Stephens, saying, “Mr. Stephens exemplifies excellence in the classroom, dedication to his students, and a heart for service. We are honored to have him as part of our RCA family and grateful for the lasting impact he makes each day. Well deserved, Mr. Stephens.”
Stephens has been an educator at various schools for 50 years. He taught at Vicksburg High School for 20 years and has been at Russell Christian Academy for the last 9 years. He is also the father of Vicksburg resident Courtney Kelley.
