VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) ─ In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, local families are invited to attend a free workshop series designed to help parents and caregivers protect children in today’s digital world.

The series, “Bridging the Digital Divide: Keeping Your Children Safe Online,” is hosted by the Warren County Youth Development Center in partnership with the Exchange Club of Vicksburg Child and Parent Center (CAP Center) and the CASA Program for Children in Warren County.

“Today, one of the biggest challenges families face is navigating the influence of cellphones and social media,” organizers said. “This series is about giving parents the tools they need to keep their children safe and informed.”

The first free workshop will take place Thursday, April 24, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Youth Development Center, located at 2020 Mission 66. Deputy Chief Troy Kimble of the Vicksburg Police Department will lead the session and share insights from his experience in law enforcement.

This three-part series will explore how parents, caregivers, youth advocates—and youth themselves—can stay safe online, build trust, and communicate openly in an increasingly digital world.

For more information, call the Youth Development Center at 601-636-8633.
