United Way partners with Google to offer 500 free scholarships

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — United Way of West Central Mississippi is proud to announce a new partnership with Grow with Google that will provide 500 scholarships to adults interested in developing new skills, strengthening their current abilities, or preparing for new career opportunities.
The scholarships are available to individuals ages 18 and older and provide free access to flexible, online courses designed to help participants build practical, career-relevant skills in Data Analytics, Project Management, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing & E- Commerce, IT Support, & UX Design. Whether someone is entering the workforce, pursuing career advancement, considering a career change, or simply wanting to expand their knowledge, this opportunity offers an accessible way to continue learning without the financial burden of tuition.
“Financial security begins with access to opportunity,” said Michele Connelly, Executive Director of United Way of West Central Mississippi. “Through our partnership with Grow with Google, we can help 500 individuals strengthen their skills, increase their confidence, and take meaningful steps toward their personal and professional goals.”
The scholarship initiative supports United Way of West Central Mississippi’s Financial Security impact area, which focuses on helping individuals and families overcome barriers, access workforce opportunities, and build more stable financial futures.
Courses are completed online, allowing participants to learn at their own pace and work around employment, family, and other responsibilities. No prior experience is required to begin participating in many of the available learning opportunities.
