VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Vicksburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Friday morning at 806 Walnut Street. No injuries have been reported.

According to Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps, firefighters were alerted to the blaze at approximately 8:01 a.m. early Friday morning. Upon arrival, crews encountered thick, black smoke pouring from the windows and visible flames along the building’s exterior walls.

“The crew immediately initiated an interior attack, swiftly extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading to nearby structures,” Stamps said.

The building was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
