Fun Lanes Bowling Center opens April 13 with family-focused, alcohol-free atmosphere

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The new Fun Lanes Bowling Center will open Sunday, April 13, and owner Brian Weaver aims to create an environment that is not only fun for the entire family but also family-friendly—including the decision not to serve beer or alcohol.
“We’re having no alcohol, no liquor,” Weaver said. “That’s going to be completely out.”
The 16-lane bowling alley will feature an arcade, pool table and a concession stand offering “ballpark-style” items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, cheese sticks, onion rings and other grab-and-go snacks.
On weekends, Weaver said he will have security guards on-site—one inside and one outside. The facility’s security system has also been upgraded with new cameras, allowing Weaver to monitor activity remotely. He plans to be on-site during the early weeks of operation as his team settles in.
Weaver acknowledged the “history” of the previous bowling alley, which closed in 2024.
“I know some of the history here. I’ve read up on it, I’ve talked to people,” Weaver said. “This place was run more like a bar or a nightclub. The good thing about us—the team you see walking around here? They’re my mechanics, my team from the other center. So we’re in the bowling business already.”
Weaver currently owns and operates Indian Lanes Adventure Center in Clinton, Miss. He said his decision to enter the family entertainment business was inspired by the fun he shares with his wife, Renee, and daughters—15-year-old Hazel and 8-year-old Ava—on their annual Disney trips.
“I always wanted to get in some kind of family entertainment,” Weaver said. “I love my kids, and my kids love this kind of stuff. They love cruises, Broadway and Disney.”
When the opportunity arose to purchase the Clinton bowling alley, Weaver said he eventually decided to take the leap. After the success of the family-friendly environment in Clinton, he chose to expand to a new location.
“We are big fans of Vicksburg, its history and culture. Vicksburg deserves a place where a family can go and have fun without worrying about people acting up,” he said.
