Gators crushed Richland 65-15
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg High School boys’ basketball team delivered a dominant performance Monday afternoon, rolling past Richland 65-15 in a convincing home victory.
The win marked a strong bounce-back effort for the Gators, who were coming off a loss on Friday. Vicksburg set the tone early and never looked back, building a commanding 38-7 lead by halftime while controlling the game on both ends of the floor.
Jaquez Marshall led the scoring attack with 14 points, providing steady offense throughout the contest. Jordan Clay followed closely with 12 points, while Marlyn Foy also reached double figures with 10 points in the lopsided win.
Vicksburg continued to spread the scoring as the game progressed, showcasing its depth. Jayden Stewart added nine points, while Devin Banks, Khalib Bailey, Jaquez Jones and Le’Brone Chiplin each chipped in five points. The balanced scoring effort allowed the Gators to maintain their intensity while rotating players and keeping fresh legs on the court.
Defensively, Vicksburg limited Richland’s scoring opportunities and forced numerous turnovers, turning defense into easy transition points. The Gators’ pressure and disciplined play helped hold Richland to just 15 points for the game.
The victory gives Vicksburg renewed momentum as the team looks ahead to its next matchup, aiming to build consistency and confidence moving forward.
