Vicksburg native Helena Wallace is now dancing with the Cowgirl Kickers at McNeese State University.

Back in May, Wallace tried out for the dance team and just a couple of days later she was informed that she made the squad.

“I was very excited when I found out and I was able to take pictures with the team but it was an experience to remember,” Wallace said.

Since the age of four, Helena has been involved in dance where she was a part of Debra Franco’s School of Dance. She decided to stick with the sport throughout high school where she eventually became a Flashette at St. Aloysius.

As a Flashette, Wallace was a part of the team that won two state championships before she graduated early. Initially, Wallace was going to attend Hind Community College to be a Hi-Stepper but she has now found a spot as a Cowgirl Kicker at McNeese.

As a Cowgirl Kicker, Wallace will be dancing at the football and basketball games and they will also be heading to Nationals this year.

Helena is also a freshman psychology major.
