Johnny Burke Anderson: 1948-2025
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Johnny Burke Anderson, formerly of Vicksburg, Miss., passed away July 23, 2025, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Kan. He was born Aug. 28, 1948, to Lewis and Roberta Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Elaine S. Anderson; sons, Johnny B. Anderson Jr. and Courtney D. Anderson; sisters, Lucy M. Magee and Ruby L. Hearn; brother, Lewis Anderson; nephew, Leon Anderson; and grandmothers, Mattie Jackson and Lizzie Tuckenberry.
J.B. had a zest for life. He loved his children and family.
He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter, Nekeidra D. Anderson, and her mother, Ruthie Hill Anderson of Vicksburg, Miss.; son, Johnavan B. Anderson, and his mother, Lareesha Randall of Kansas City, Mo.; bonus son, Byron (Taija) Anderson and their children of Vicksburg, Miss., and Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters: Rosie Davis of McKinney, Texas; Elisebeth Henderson of Kansas City, Kan.; and Ella Anderson-Smith of Memphis, Tenn.; brother, LeeRoy Anderson of Detroit, Mich.; bonus daughters, Felicia Brisco and Formeka (Antonio) Nash and their children of Vicksburg and Port Gibson, Miss.; bonus son Jeffrey Harris, of Kansas City, Mo.; brother-in-law Lamar Hearn, of Buffalo, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends from around the country.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Highland Park Funeral Home, 4101 State Avenue, Kansas City, Kan. Funeral services will begin Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Highland Park, with burial to follow in Highland Park Cemetery.
A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Anointed and Appointed by Jesus Christ Church, 1230 Euclid Avenue, Kansas City, Mo.
