Joshua Robinson named Head Band Director at Jefferson High School

FAYETTE, Miss. (VDN) — The Jefferson County School District (JCSD) is proud to announce the promotion of Mr. Joshua Robinson to Music Instructor and Head Band Director at Jefferson County High School for the 2025–26 school year. A dynamic educator and rising leader, Mr. Robinson brings six years of experience and a proven track record of excellence, most recently as the Jefferson County Middle School Band Director.
Since joining JCSD in 2023, Joshua Robinson has transformed the middle school band into a regional powerhouse—earning top honors at competitions and capturing the hearts of the community with electrifying performances. His leadership, creativity, and commitment to student success make him the ideal candidate to lead the high school’s acclaimed “Sounds of Thunder” marching band.
A native of Beaumont, Texas, and a proud graduate of Central Medical Magnet High School and Alcorn State University, Mr. Robinson is the son of Margaret Lee Valmor and a devoted member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He is also the proud father of one daughter, Rose Robinson, who inspires his passion for education and service.
“Teaching music is not just what I do—it is who I am,” said Robinson. “I believe in using music as a tool to inspire, to discipline, and to open doors of opportunity. I am honored to lead the Sounds of Thunder and excited to build on the legacy of excellence here at Jefferson County.”
Mr. Robinson’s vision for the program includes enhancing musicianship, expanding performance opportunities, and continuing the tradition of college band scholarship offers for JCSD students.
Principal Sandra Oliver shared, “Mr. Robinson brings the perfect blend of heart, discipline, and innovation. Our band program is in great hands.”
