Lady Braves defeated Jackson State 64-51

JACKSON, MS – Alcorn State women’s basketball delivered a statement win on Saturday afternoon, defeating Jackson State 64-51 at the Williams Center. The Lady Braves (9-16, 7-7 SWAC) secured their second straight victory by dominating the second half, outscoring the Tigers 43-29. Jackson State entered the contest at 11-3 in SWAC play, but Alcorn’s relentless defense and balanced scoring proved to be the difference.
Kiarra Henderson led Alcorn with a game-high 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting while adding seven rebounds and six assists. Destiny Brown recorded a monster double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds, controlling the glass on both ends of the floor. Kailyn Watkins and Dalayja Hurt-Floyd provided key contributions off the bench, combining for 14 points. The Lady Braves’ depth played a major role, as their bench outscored Jackson State’s reserves 41-12.
Despite a slow start offensively, Alcorn exploded for 29 points in the third quarter, shooting 72.2% from the field to take control of the game.
