Lady Vikes’ track team finish second, boys finish third at JPS Invitational

JACKSON, Miss. (VDN) — Both Warren Central High School track team’s placed in the Jackson Public School (JPS) Invitational on Tuesday, with the girls finishing second, and the boys placing third.
The Lady Vikes scored 99.16 points, finishing behind Murrah with 125.5. The boys’ team tallied 120 points, with Lanier taking first place at 145 and Murrah finishing second with 123.
Below is the JPS Invitational results.
Girls’ Results:
- Adria Burrell dominated the sprints, winning the 100m (12.45), 200m (26.23), and 400m (1:00.39).
- Arrionna Jenkins took first place in the shot put (33’5″) and discus (102-06).
- Marissa Stewart placed third in the shot put (29’6″).
- Mere Smith secured third in the 100m hurdles (17.63).
- Cora Lindsay finished second in the 1600m (6:25.29).
- Karyn Henderson earned third place in the high jump (4’8″).
Boys’ Results:
- Dwight Palmer won the 200m (22.19) and 400m (50.10), while finishing second in the 100m (11.05).
- Chester Savage took first in the 300m hurdles (42.07).
- Gavin Davenport won the shot put (45’0″) and placed second in the discus (133-08).
- Mike Hall placed second in the 110m hurdles (16.27).
- Ricky Neal secured second in the triple jump (42’7″).
- Will Bates finished second in both the 1600m (5:09.87) and 3200m (11:33.79).
- Larry Reynolds placed fourth in the discus (125-09).
Warren Central’s track teams will look to build on their strong performances as they continue their season.
