MDWFP offers Free Fishing Day on July 4
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN)— Mississippi residents will have the opportunity to fish without a license on Thursday, July 4, as part of the state’s designated “Free Fishing Day.”
Free Fishing Days are intended to encourage new anglers to experience the sport for the first time and offer seasoned fishermen a chance to share their passion with others. The initiative aims to promote outdoor recreation and support conservation efforts across the state.
While a license is not required for sport fishing on July 4, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) notes that permits are still required to fish at any state-owned lakes.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity and explore the numerous public fishing lakes available across Mississippi. A full list of lakes and locations can be found at www.mdwfp.com/fishing-boating/lakes.
The MDWFP reminds participants to follow all other fishing regulations, including size and creel limits.
