Melissa Hollowell Nevels 1967-2024
Melissa Hollowell Nevels was born on July 15, 1967, and passed away on February 1, 2024, at 56 years old.
Melissa was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and continued serving as a civilian for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Vicksburg Branch for over 25 years. During her time with the Corp, she worked in various departments and held many different positions, with her most recent placement being on the Harbor Project. She was a very crafty person and made weekly trips to Hobby Lobby to stock up on supplies. She had recently picked up scrapbooking, but her true love and talent was knitting and crocheting. She always had multiple projects going at a time. She made sure that each item she crocheted or knitted was full of love and specifically tailored to who she made it for. She loved the Lord and was a very devout Christian. She had a passion for traveling. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and did so as much as she could. Melissa held many titles over the years, but her favorite was MeMe. She loved spending time with her grandkids and never missed an opportunity to visit with them or take them on special outings.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Frances Bennett Hampton.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Nevels, 2 sons: Brad Nevels (Dee) and Evan Nevels (Harley), her father Bob Hollowell (Catherine), 4 brothers: Cecil Hollowell (Susan), Thomas Hollowell (Janie), Russell Hollowell (Rita), and David Hollowell (Rhonda), a sister Frankie Pleake, and 3 grandchildren: Kayleigh Nevels, Aaron Nevels, and Reid Nevels.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
