Miss Firecracker: ‘Mississippi Made Movies’ this Friday at SCHC

VICKSBURG, Miss. — The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation (SCHF) will continue its “Mississippi Made Movies” series with a screening of the 1989 comedy-drama Miss Firecracker on Friday, Feb 7, in the SCHC Auditorium.

Cocktail hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by the movie at 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy a cash bar and participate in a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are $10 per person and available in advance on Eventbrite.com or at the door.

Miss Firecracker, written by Beth Henley and starring Holly Hunter, tells the story of Carnelle Scott, a spirited young woman in Yazoo City, Mississippi, who enters a local beauty pageant in hopes of redeeming her reputation and earning the respect of her community. The film, with its humor and heartwarming message, celebrates resilience and Southern culture.
