Missing cat, Casper, may have jumped onto Amazon Truck
VICKSBURG, Miss. – Casper the cat went missing on September 15 according to his owner, Alisa Barnette. Casper is 6 and a half years old, and is neutered and chipped with two small scars above his eyes. Barnette said he loves Temptations cat treats and the sound of a Sheba brand cat food snapping open. He comes to the phrase, “meow meow,” and loves Purina cat chow.
According to Barnette, the last time she saw Casper was at 7 p.m. on September 14 just before she received a delivery from Amazon. Barnette said that Casper always stays within calling distance of the house but occasionally tries to make daring escapes into a vehicle. This leads Barnette to believe her adventurous cat may have climbed into the back of the Amazon delivery truck.
A natural Houdini
Casper loves to be outside and waits by the door to dart out into the open world. He never crosses the road, but has been known to slip off and climb into his owner’s vehicle, according to Barnette. He was recently spotted miles from her home on Lake Blvd, so the only reasonable explanation that makes sense to Barnette is that he hitched a ride. After an unsuccessful week and a half of leaving out a safe trap following Casper being spotted, Barnette retired her attempts to capture him and instead turned to Amazon employees for more answers.
“Casper is a very curious cat,” said Barnette. Since she orders frequently from Amazon, it would be likely that Casper would recognize the delivery truck and potentially see one as a safe place to explore. Barnette recently spoke with an Amazon delivery driver and this matter will be further addressed in a meeting at Amazon. Barnette also wonders if there is a possibility that Casper may have taken up residence with a new family along his travels.
A personality everyone falls for
“He has a personality that everyone falls for him when they meet him,” said Barnette.
She wonders if maybe he made a home for himself somewhere else. Barnette said that she’d rather find out that someone has him and won’t give him back than find out he’s alone and hungry.
“Even if they [other people] have him and don’t want to give him back, yes I’ll be heartbroken and angry but at least I’ll know he is okay,” said Barnette.
She expressed that she is afraid someone will find Casper without knowing where he belongs.
Barrnette has contacted local shelters and vets and has even put up flyers. A reward for the missing cat has led to prank calls from people who only wanted the money without knowing where Casper was. Barnette also reported that a young child contacted her and was vulgar over the phone. She just wants to know her pet is alive and okay.
His favorite person is his owner, Barnette therefore he may have a preference towards the female voice when being called. If Casper is spotted, please call Alisa Barnette at 601-529-8492 or Chris at 701-618-8378
