Mississippi Blood Services, Regions Bank Launch Annual College Blood Bowl to Support Student Scholarships
FLOWOOD, Miss. — Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) and Regions Bank are excited to announce the launching of our annual Regions Bank College Scholarship Blood Bowl competition between Mississippi Universities. The brackets are aimed at encouraging blood donations and supporting scholarships for college students across Mississippi during the months of October and November. Each university is encouraged to host blood drive(s) on campus or off in order to capture the highest number of blood products throughout the contest time-frame. As in year’s past, the spirited challenge is between:
Bracket 1: Jackson State University, Alcorn State University, Mississippi Valley State University
Bracket 2: Mississippi State University, University of Southern Mississippi, University of Mississippi
A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a donating student at the university with the highest number of blood donations within one bracket. A $500 scholarship is awarded to a donating students at each of the other participating universities within each bracket.
While the Regions Bank College Blood Bowl competition is aimed to educate students, it is also open to communities, faculty, and alumni to help boost the participation and bragging rights among participating universities. Furthermore, this year we are including a Winner’s Trophy for the University to proudly display on campus so that everyone can see their commitment to saving lives in Mississippi.

- Mississippi Valley State University November 19 10:00am – 2:00pm
- Alcorn State University November 21 10:00am – 3:00pm
- Jackson State University Date to be announced
- Bracket 2
- Mississippi State University November 4 10:00am – 4:00pm
- University of Mississippi October 7-9 & more to come
- University of Southern Mississippi October 15-17 & more to come
