Vicksburg High School’s Kennedy Mullins wrapped her tennis season by reaching the semifinals of the state tournament.

On Tuesday, Mullins defeated Carley Fryery(6-3,6-1) in the quarterfinals as quickly advanced to the the semifinals.

“That win really helped my confidence but it really didn’t sink in until later but I was still really nervous,” Mullins said.

Mullins put up a hard fight in her second match but eventually fell short to Marley Brown(West Jones). She was still able to end her junior season as a district champion after securing that title last week.

“I think I competed very well even though I was worried when we went up to 6A but everything turned out good,” she added.
