One shot on Athens

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — One person was shot and injured after gunfire broke out on Athens in Vicksburg. 

Just before 8 p.m., gunshots rang out in the 100 block of Athens in Vicksburg. One person with a gunshot wound was transported via a private vehicle to an area hospital. There is no word on their condition at the time of this report. 

Witnesses reported hearing around 12 shots from what they believed was two guns.

Vicksburg police are on Athens and were observed searching for shell casings. The location of at least four casings was marked.
