Pastor Reginald Harris has passed away

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Reginald Harris, Senior Pastor of Bright Morning Star M. B. Church, passed away. Harris served as Pastor for over 20 years at the church.

A graduate of Vicksburg High School, Pastor Harris was inducted into the Vicksburg-Warren School District Hall of Fame last year. He was a 3-year starter in football and baseball. Pastor Harris was the captain of Vicksburg High School’s 1984 district six championship football team and was a catalyst to their #4 ranking in Mississippi. 

In 1985 he was the Thom McAnn Award recipient for best scholar-athlete in Warren County and was a first-team all-state participant on the football squad. Harris led the football team in tackles his junior year with 130 and his senior year with 144. Harris was the 1984 Red Carpet Bowl’s “Most Valuable Defensive Player” and is a member of the 1980s All-Century team.

As Harris’ family, friends, and church deal with this tragic loss, many prayers are appreciated during this time.
