RV Squadron Lands in Vicksburg During Fall Flyover Tour
VICKSBURG, Miss. – By Bernadette Cahill – The five planes of the Falcon Field RV squadron flew over Vicksburg Municipal Airport Friday morning (November 15) before coming in to land to tour the Vicksburg National Military Park. The RV squadron, from Peachtree City, Georgia, is en route to Lakefront Airport New Orleans to tour the World War II Museum during their fall mini-vacation. Airport Director, Ron Davis helped to co-ordinate arrangements for their time in Vicksburg.
The 5 Van’s RV aircraft are all experimental aircraft that were home built by the pilots. Their trip from Georgia took two hours. The five pilots have been doing formation flying for the best part of a decade, with some of them having been involved in formation flying for 22 years.
Among the aircraft are two RV6s; one RV8; one RV4 and one RV14.
The pilots’ call signs are Torque (Dave Romuald); Greese (Greg Reese); DAR (Donald A. Roberts); Straggler (Mark Strahler); and McFly (Ed Martin). They were accompanied by five female co-pilots.
