Samantha Edwards picks up two first place finishes at South State

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN)—Samantha Edwards continues her quest for a state title. The St. Aloysius track & field runner won the 1,600(5:28.23) and 3,200m(12:13.93) runs while finishing second in the 800m(2:27.03).

Megan Theriot came in second place in the 400m(1:03.71) and fourth place in the 100m(13.53). Annslee Averett qualified for state after finishing in fourth place in the 100m hurdles. Julia Moberley will also be heading to state after grabbing a third-place finish in discus.

Madelyn Kavanaugh, Kelci Bingham, Averett, and Theriot all helped the 4x200m relay team to a third place finish, and they will all participate in the state competition. 

For the St. Al boys, Ace Oglesby, Beau Bradley, Sam Ashley, and Carson Gleese will all advance to state after fourth place in the 4×100 and 4×200.

Porter’s Chapel Academy:

Marley Bufkin is the only female runner to advance for PCA. She finished second in the 100m(13.88) and fourth in the 200m(29.72). Mia Abdo won the triple jump and came in second place in the high jump. 

For the PCA boys, Henry Slayton came in fourth place in the 800m(2:17.63). Schaffer Bell, Jase Jung, Austin Moore, Lane Carraway, and Lakelan Pecanty all helped the 4×100 and 4×200 teams advance.
