WC advances to the second round;VHS baseball season ends and WC softball team took a loss

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —Warren Central High School baseball team advances to round two of the playoffs after defeating Center Hill 8-1 on Saturday night. The win improves the Vikings’ record to 18-9 on the year and gives them an opportunity to continue their season.
Maddox Lynch pitched six innings of the game for WC where he struck out four batters before Beau Bradley stepped in and put the game away in the final inning as he finished with one strikeout.
The Vikings finished the win with nine hits where Lynch led the way. He hit one double and went 3 for 3 with three RBIs. Jacob Kealhofer also hit a double as he went 2 for 3 with one RBI. Ryan Steed went 2 for 3 while Caden Cole and Lester Martin both had one hit and one RBI each. Trace Hood also hit an RBI.
VHS Baseball:
The Gators season officially came to an end on Saturday after being defeated by Saltillo 16-0 in game two in the first round of the playoffs.
Allan Allen, Nick Carson, and A Harris all finished with one hit at bat while Kaleb Doss, Mincer Minor IV, and Allen all struck out one batter.
The Gators were the No.4 seed in district play under Head Coach Brandon Kincaid.
WC softball
The Warren Central High School softball team took a 3-2 loss to Saltillo on Saturday which forces a game three on Monday.
The game went until the sixth inning before anyone scored a run. Anzley Keen got the Lady Vikes on the board first from a single. Saltillo eventually tied the game at 1-1 before the end of the sixth.
Mary Clell Allred gave WC the 2-1 lead after a single but Saltillo responded with a bunt and single that added two runs that gave them the win.
Maddy Pant(2 hits) and Addi Mullen both hit a double. Allred, Keen, and KeKe McKay each had one hit.
