The Omega Lamplighters is a youth development initiative under Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Eta Tau Chapter, dedicated to mentoring young men. The organization’s mission is to prepare participants to become responsible citizens by instilling values of leadership, academics, maturity, and perseverance through the support of a community-based mentoring village.

The inductees completed a 12-week program where they learned the organization’s history, developed leadership skills, practiced conflict resolution, and trained in choreographed routines alongside members of the Eta Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

The new class, known as the “Illuminated S.E.V.E.N.” Lamplighters, was formally introduced during a Warren Central Junior High School ceremony. Each inductee received a nickname and showcased a group dance routine choreographed by Brother James Lewis before an enthusiastic audience.

The Eta Tau Chapter will continue to mentor the Lamplighters as they engage in various community service initiatives. Christopher Barnett, of the Eta Tau Chapter and Executive Director of the Omega Lamplighters of West Central Mississippi, emphasized the importance of community support, noting that the group will hold monthly meetings to discuss key civic topics, develop leadership skills, and coordinate volunteer projects.

This marks the second induction class for the organization. The inaugural class, inducted in Fall 2024, included eight young men, two of whom have since graduated and are preparing to enter college.

Vision: “To be the premier organization building a village that empowers and supports young men to achieve more than they thought possible.”
