Shalanda Harris named Ninth Grade Head Cheerleading Coach at VHS
Vicksburg native Shalanda Harris has been named the Head Ninth Grade Cheerleading Coach at Vicksburg High School. Harris is a 2002 graduate of VHS.
“This gives me an opportunity to do something I’ve never done before, and we started off in April and we plan on becoming a stronger team because teamwork makes the dream work,” Harris said.
Harris mentioned that her team will also be working with Kolby Wesley and Kaley Stamps later on in the year to help improve their performances.
Besides being a VHS graduate, Harris also received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Alcorn State University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Teaching from Jackson State University. Shalanda is the daughter of Malcolm Harris(Rosie) and Joyann Williams.
Shalanda also has a son, Landon Prentiss, who recently left the Vicksburg Catholic School and will be a part of the VHS freshman football team. At St. Aloysius, Landon was inducted into the National Jr. Honor Society and his GPA was a 4.40. He also helped the Flashes Junior High Team to a winning season in 2023.
