Shirley Jean (Weatherbee) Miller 1937-2026
She was 88 years old

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —
Mrs. Shirley Jean (Weatherbee) Miller passed away on May 19th, 2026, at the age of 88.
Shirley was born on October 19, 1937, in Smithville, Mississippi. She was a proud graduate of Smithville High School ‘55 and of the University for Women ‘59, where she studied Home Economics. After marrying the love of her life, the late James Miller, she moved to Rolling Fork, Mississippi where she was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church, where she participated in countless activities and deeply cherished the many friendships and heartfelt community she found there.
Throughout her life and career, she proudly served both her community and state as an employee of Mississippi State University’s Extension Services and Department of Commerce. She was a proud member of numerous clubs and societies, including the Business and Professional Women’s Club, where she was nominated as Woman of the Year in 1976. She was also a proud art teacher at Sharkey Issaquena Academy, who believed art was a gift that could bring beauty and joy into the world, as she shared that gift with everyone that she met throughout her life. She truly lived her faith through kindness, service, and devout love for others.
Shirley’s family was her greatest joy. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She effortlessly created a home filled with warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Zoma Weatherbee and Bessie Viola Weatherbee, as well as her loving husband, James Lenward Miller.
She is survived by her sons, Shane Miller (Renee) and Cody Miller (Mary Elizabeth); brothers, Wayne Weatherbee (Vickie) and Wade Weatherbee (Peggy); grandchildren, Kory Miller, Klaire Shawl (Daniel), Hayden Miller, Ava Grace Miller, and great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Chase, and Judith.
All services, visitation and funeral, will be held on Tuesday, May 26th, at the First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. and the funeral immediately to follow at 11 a.m.
Pallbearers will be: Michael Miller, Jason Kerr, Cauley Chase, Daniel Shawl, Dean Hatcher, and Jordan Clark.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Mike Barlow, Eddie Touchberry, Roger Dale, Frank Corbin, Thad Virden, Mike Ray, and Bro. Millard Caulder.
