Remembering Catherine Marie Greenlee Roland

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — After a courageous battle against cancer, Catherine “Cathy” Marie Greenlee Roland, age 59, formerly of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and later Utica, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 24, 2026, in Terry, Mississippi at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Josh Hutchins. Cathy was born on March 31, 1967, in Greenville, Mississippi, to James and Ruth Greenlee.

Roland was a graduate of Warren Central High School, Class of 1986. She continued her education at Hinds Community College, where she completed her LPN training in 1989. Her calling to nursing, most recently at Riggs Manor Retirement Community in Raymond, reflected the compassion that defined her life. Outside of her work, she found enjoyment in gardening and canning vegetables.

Roland is preceded in death by her father, James Greenlee, and her husband, William “Bill” Roland. She is survived by her daughter, Kayla Hutchins, and son-in-law, Josh; her five beloved grandchildren: Kenzlie, Zac, Hallee, Tori, and Audrey Jo Hutchins; her mother, Ruth Greenlee; her two sisters, Mona Karhoff and Elizabeth Welch; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, nurse and friend, but her most cherished title was Mimi to her five precious grandchildren. 

Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, in The Chapel of Monsour & Patin Funeral Directors, 1830 Cherry Street in Vicksburg. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. until the hour of the service at Monsour & Patin.
