St. Aloysius Junior High girls’ basketball defeated CCA

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — The St. Aloysius Junior High School girls’ basketball team picked up a convincing win Tuesday night, defeating Clinton Christian Academy 39-22, while the junior high boys were edged 31-28.

The Lady Flashes jumped out to a quick start, opening the game on a 7-0 run in the first quarter behind seven points from Kelci Bingham. St. Aloysius continued to control the tempo in the second quarter and carried a commanding 24-2 lead into halftime, with Bingham continuing to score and Kennadi Blassingame adding a pair of baskets.

Addy Hardaway took over offensively in the second half, scoring all nine of the Lady Flashes’ points in the third quarter to keep the advantage firmly in hand.

Bingham led all scorers with 18 points for St. Aloysius, while Hardaway finished with 13 points. Blassingame and Analeigh Herring each added four points in the win.

In the boys’ game, St. Aloysius came up just short in a 31-28 loss to Clinton Christian Academy. Noah Ponder led the Flashes with 14 points, and Adam Dorbeck followed with 10 points. Kellen Crocker and Andrew Johnston rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
