VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — St. Aloysius High School swimmers Olivia Busby and Matthew Busby have earned recognition among the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools’ Top Ten swimmers, capping off impressive seasons in the pool.

The brother-sister duo learned of their selections last week when their coach shared the news.

“Once I found out, I felt honored and privileged to accept it,” Olivia said.

At the 2025 state meet, Olivia placed third in the 100-yard backstroke and earned multiple first-place finishes throughout the season. She credited her success to the close-knit nature of the team and the leadership of Head Coach Wilson Carroll.

“Even though our team is small, we have great enthusiasm and a coach that is passionate about swimming,” she said. “I’m thankful for Coach Carroll’s leadership and his dedication to this sport.”

Matthew capped off his high school career as a state champion, finishing first in the 100-yard freestyle at the state meet. Like his sister, he also collected several first-place finishes during the season.

“I’ve enjoyed this last year on the swim team because I was able to forge deeper connections with my teammates and friends,” Matthew said. “This final season was a great capstone to my swimming career, and I’m more than happy with how far I’ve come.”

Both Olivia and Matthew competed under the guidance of Head Coach Wilson Carroll.
