VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The St. Aloysius boys’ soccer team opened its season with a dominant 4-0 win over Cathedral on Tuesday night.

The Flashes started slow offensively but came alive in the second half to secure the shutout victory. Senior Jack Dickerson led the way with two goals, while Carter Smithhart and Blake Thurman each added one.

“Our second half, we finally put the ball in the net,” St. Al head coach Gio Baldizon said. “Carter had a corner kick that connected with Jack for his first goal, and later Jack scored again. Carter was fed a through ball that led to his goal, and our seventh grader Blake Thurman came off the bench to put one in.”

Senior goalkeeper Holden Davidson had a standout performance in the net, recording four to five saves and keeping a clean sheet for St. Aloysius.

“Holden did an awesome job,” Head Coach Gio Baldizon said. “It was a great way to start the season for the boys.”
