Stamp Out Hunger food drive this Saturday May 10

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) – Letter carriers across the area will help fight hunger this weekend during the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive.
On Saturday, May 10, residents are encouraged to leave non-perishable food items next to their mailboxes before regular mail delivery. Local letter carriers will collect the donations and deliver them to area food banks and pantries.
Now in its 32nd year, Stamp Out Hunger is the largest single-day food drive in the nation. The effort aims to help restock food supplies during the summer months, when many school meal programs are unavailable and food pantries see increased demand.
All donations collected locally will stay in the Vicksburg area to support families in need.
Suggested donations include canned vegetables, soup, pasta, rice, cereal and other shelf-stable items. Items should be unopened and not expired.
The food drive is a collaborative effort between the NALC, the U.S. Postal Service, and local community partners.
