Tallulah Academy names Matt Homan as Headmaster

Tallulah, LA. (VDN) — Matt Homan has been named as Headmaster at Tallulah Academy.

Matt Homan is an accomplished educator, coach, and military veteran with a strong commitment to fostering excellence in both academics and athletics.

He proudly served a total of 11 years in the United States Marine Corps and the Army, where he honed his leadership skills and dedication to duty.

In education, Matt has 14 years of experience as a teacher for grades 7–12, during which he has been dedicated to creating an engaging and supportive environment for his students. Additionally, he has served for two years as the assistant principal at Sharkey Issaquena Academy, contributing to the school’s administrative efforts and student success.

As head coach for the Sharkey Issaquena football team, Matt achieved notable success by leading the team to a state championship in 2023. His coaching philosophy emphasizes teamwork, character development, and personal growth among student-athletes.

Matt holds a bachelor’s degree from Belhaven University, which provides a solid foundation for his career in education and athletics.

He is married to his wife of 20 years, Hillary, and they have three sons together.

Looking ahead, Matt is excited to join Talulah Academy, which has an outstanding reputation in both education and athletics. He sees this as an opportunity to lead in Christ and to further the school’s mission and values.

Matt is particularly focused on growing the school’s recruitment efforts and driving educational initiatives to ensure that every child has the best chance to succeed after graduation.
