Tallulah Academy shines at St. Aloysius softball camp

TALLULAH, La. (VDN) — Tallulah Academy turned in a strong showing Saturday at the St. Aloysius softball camp, tying 5-5 with Manchester Academy in the opener before rolling to an 11-1 victory over Porter’s Chapel Academy in the second game.

In the opener against Manchester, pitcher Hallie Grace kept the Lady Trojans in the game with a solid performance in the circle. She struck out six batters and also contributed at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Emily Fortenberry added a double, while Mary Katherine Marsh, Kaylyn Ray, Gracie Halterman, Emery Hill, Elle Moberley and Chloe Lopez each collected one hit. Marsh, Ray and Moberley each drove in a run.

Tallulah’s bats came alive in the second game against PCA. E. Moberley and Malone both smacked doubles, with Malone finishing 2-for-2 at the plate. Halterman and Moberley each tallied one hit and two RBIs, while Ray led the offensive surge by going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Malone also excelled in the circle, striking out four batters to secure the win.

The Lady Trojans will return to action Monday when they host River Oaks, looking to build on their momentum from the weekend. TA will also travel to face Briarfield Academy on Tuesday.
