VICKSBURG, Miss. – Vicksburg’s Independence Day celebration will be a cool mix of funk and fireworks this year. The celebration, held downtown in front of Washington Street Park on July 4, will feature Dr. Zarr and the Amazing Funk Monsters alongside Mississippi’s longest fireworks show.

Dr. Zarr, a ’70s-infused cover band from Memphis, Tennessee, will take the stage at 7 p.m. The band brings back the days of bell bottoms and bass grooves with hits from the ’70s and ’80s, such as “Ladies Night,” “Disco Inferno,” and “You Dropped the Bomb On Me.”

The fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.

Vicksburg’s Independence Day celebration is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
