Thomas “TJ” Mayfield announces his candidacy for the Ward 1 Alderman seat

Vicksburg, MS – In the wake of a significant personal loss with the passing of Alderman Michael Mayfield, Sr., TJ Mayfield steps forward to honor his father’s legacy through service by announcing his candidacy for the vacant City of Vicksburg Ward 1 Alderman seat.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg and a dedicated community servant, TJ Mayfield embodies the values of leadership, service, and community engagement instilled in him by his late father. With a rich background in education and community initiatives, Mayfield is committed to fostering growth and prosperity in Ward 1 and across Vicksburg.

Mayfield’s educational journey began at Warren Central High School, where he graduated with honors, followed by earning a degree in Social Science Education from Alcorn State University, graduating cum laude. His commitment to community service is evident through his roles within the Vicksburg-Warren School District, where he founded impactful programs such as Gentlemen of Intelligence, Valor, and Excellence (GIVE), and led numerous initiatives benefiting local families and students.

Recognized for his contributions to the community by state leaders, Mayfield has demonstrated a profound dedication to enriching the lives of Vicksburg’s youth and fostering a sense of unity and progress within the city. His plans as alderman include prioritizing infrastructure improvements, crime prevention measures, and enhancing recreational opportunities for young people.
