Wabash fire

Fire has claimed a home at 909 Wabash Street just off of Sky Farm in the city.

At about 7:30 p.m., units were dispatched to Wabash Street at Sky Farm, near the city cemetery. The first unit to arrive, Rescue, reported that flames were showing at the home.

Two engines were observed at the scene of the fire along with county firefighter Cedric Martin, who assisted in opening the fire hydrant and supplying water to the units. Officer Steven Ragan with the Vicksburg Police Department took control of the roadway and secured a safe working environment for the Vicksburg firefighters.

It’s a stark reminder that this is the third time a fire has struck on Wabash Street in recent years. The property at 917 Wabash was consumed by fire on March 18, 2021, and the home at 903 Wabash met the same fate on October 20, 2019.
