Three Vicksburg makeup artists will appear on a panel discussion hosted by TikTok sensation, Ekane on May 26, 2024, in Natchez, Mississippi.

Jasmine Williams, Johntae King, and Cepriana Jones are Vicksburg-native makeup artists who will share their makeup and skincare expertise on a panel discussion on May 26, 2024, in Natchez, Mississippi. The panel discussion is part of a hands-on makeup class called Beauty and the Beat

Jasmine Williams has enjoyed an 11-year makeup career. She is motivated by her 11-year-old twins, her biggest supporters. Her favorite makeup style to create is the “It Girl Soft Glam”. She also owns a cosmetic line, The Beat Necessities LLC.

Johntae King is the owner of Luxemere Makeup Studio. King embarked upon her makeup journey in 2016 when she had the privilege of doing a wedding party’s makeup as her first gig. Since then, she has expanded to also specialize in television, film, prom, and pageantry makeup looks.

Completing the trio is Cepriana Jones, a cosmetology student at Delta Technical College in Ridgeland. She has been a certified makeup artist for years. After she graduates from cosmetology school in November 2024, she plans to continue working at The Glam House on Washington Street.

Beauty and the Beat is a brunch-styled beauty industry mixer. The event provided a focused space for makeup and skincare. Attendees can learn from every makeup artist, esthetician, and dermatology expert in the room during the hands-on tutorial. This year, Beauty and the Beat will end with a celebration led by DJ Chris Cool. Attendees can mingle, dance, and snap pictures with TikTok star Ekane.

This year marks the second annual Beauty and the Beat, which originally debuted in Fayette, MS. Its relocation to Natchez is a testament to its growing notoriety and the increasing demand for such events in the area.

Catoya Rankin is the founder of Beauty and the Beat. Motivated by her daughter, Carmen, also a Vicksburg native, she is steering the event to becoming Southwest Mississippi and East Central Louisiana’s premier annual beauty exposition.
