Two homicides in Jackson on Monday

According to the Jackson Police Department, officers are investigating two fatal shootings that took place on Monday.

Hair Street

The first shooting happened around 11:00 a.m. on Hair Street.

When they arrived on scene, officers found 22-year-old Quavious Banks who had been shot once in the back and died from his injuries.

Investigators are still gathering information and evidence from the scene.

No suspect information is available at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.

Berryhill Place

Jackson Police are also  investigating a shooting that occurred around 4:20pm Monday in the 100 block of Berryhill Place.

When officers arrived they discovered a black male victim who had been shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

That victim has since been identified as Markavious Carey, 22.

Investigators are still gathering evidence and information on possible suspects and motive.
