Two homes in Vicksburg were lost to a fire overnight. This is the second and third fire to destroy a home in Warren County since Friday.

The Vicksburg Daily News live-streamed the fire on East Avenue. Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps has reported the East Avenue home fire started in a clothes dryer.

The call came in just before 5:30 a.m. that a home was on fire on East Avenue. The radio report said there was heavy smoke and flames associated with the fire. When the first unit arrived on scene flames were through the roof near the carport area. By the time the second unit arrived flames were shooting 30 to 50 feet in the air. A morning wind drove smoke from the fire eastward causing a large fog-like cloud on Mission 66 near East.

The homeowner was able to safely get out of the structure and was comforted by friends and neighbors as their home burned. Chief Stamps was seen speaking the homeowner several times in what appears to have been efforts to assist them.

A fire in the 1200 block of Bonelli Street was called in just before 3 a.m.
