VNMP to host eclipse viewing event Oct. 14
The skies are set to stage a breathtaking celestial dance, and Vicksburg National Military Park is the place to be to witness it. The park is gearing up to host a special viewing event for the upcoming partial solar eclipse.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, Oct. 14. Vicksburg will be under the spell of a partial solar eclipse, where the sun will be obscured by approximately 75%. To facilitate an unforgettable viewing experience, park rangers will be stationed outside the Visitor Center from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Those attending the event not only get to witness the majesty of the eclipse but can also engage in fun and informative activities. Young stargazers can take part in the Solar Eclipse Junior Ranger program. By completing activities detailed in the Solar Eclipse Junior Ranger booklet, they can earn a special Solar Eclipse Junior Ranger Badge. To ensure the safety of all attendees, the park will be providing free solar eclipse viewing glasses to everyone participating in the program.

- Concludes: 1:39 p.m.

While joining the viewing event at the Visitor Center is free and does not require an entrance pass, those looking to access the tour road afterward will need an entrance pass.
