Vicksburg High wins Vikings’ Invitational; Warren Central finishes second

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Vicksburg High School captured the Vikings’ Invitational title Wednesday afternoon, while Warren Central High School finished second in the team standings.

The VHS boys, led by head coach Paul Wilson Jr., earned their first Vikings’ Invitational win in more than a decade.

“All of our kids are bringing the culture back to the way it was so we came out here and did great, but it was a good way to cap the week off,” Wilson said.

VHS boys totaled 135 points to edge WC’s 113 points. The WC boys are led by head coach Corey Wilson Sr.

On the girls side, the Missy Gators, under head coach Deatra Cable, finished first with 140 points. WC girls were second with 121 points. The WC girls are led by head coach Heather Casey.

“I feel great and passionate about today but I wanted to win in May,” Cable said.
