Vicksburg Judge Ceola James honored at 30th anniversary of MS. Court of Appeals

VICKSBURG, Miss. – Vicksburg Judge Ceola James, along with all former and present Judges of the Mississippi Court of Appeals, was honored on January 9, 2025, in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Mississippi Court of Appeals.
To honor the 30th anniversary, a lunch for the former and present Judges was held at the Governor’s Mansion, followed by a viewing of the Mississippi Court of Appeals. The event included a panel discussion on the history of the Mississippi Court of Appeals followed by a reception, both of which were open to the public.
“The reception was a very enjoyable occasion,” Judge James said.
Judge James was elected to the Mississippi Court of Appeals in a special election to fill the 4-year unexpired term of Judge Leslie King after her appointment to the Mississippi Supreme Court.
“It was both an honor and a privilege to serve on the Mississippi Court of Appeals, which is the second highest court in the state of Mississippi,” said Judge James. “I recently ran for the Mississippi Supreme Court in the general election on November 5, 2024, which would have been a promotion for me. Even though I was not successful in that election, I am grateful to all the people of Mississippi who voted for me.”
