VHS took down Ridgeland on Tuesday; WC fell short to Columbus

Vicksburg, Miss.-The Vicksburg High School girls’ basketball team improved to 15-10 on the year and 3-1 in district play after defeating Ridgeland 63-41 on Tuesday night.
Cynia Johnson showed out in the win by finishing with a double-double which consisted of 21 points and 15 rebounds. Zion Harvey also contributed heavily as she pitched in 16 points, 7 rebounds, and four assists while Jordan Grace finished with nine points on the board.
Ny’Keria Watson and Raylyn Parson scored four points while Jada Erwin, Smiley J, and Zion Knox all added three points each.
Boys:
The Gator boys took a 61-53 loss last night to Ridgeland.
Mincer Minor IV led with 14 points while Kris Washington added 13. Jaquez Jones put up 10 points and Jaquez Marshall added seven. Marlyn Foy scored four points, Javeion Perkins put up three points and DeCorey Knight Jr. scored two.
Warren Central:
The Lady Vikes took a 54-19 loss to Columbus. Camara Evans scored six points and Ana Bridges added four points. Chanise Anderson scored three points while Arrionna Jenkins and Keasia Williams both scored two points. Kylie Chambers and Madison Ward both hit a free throw.
Boys:
The Viking boys put on a show last night as they nearly handed Columbus their first district loss. WC fell short 70-62 in overtime.
The Vikings trailed most of the game but the second half was a different ball game that went in their favor until overtime.
Roosevelt Harris Jr. scored 16 points and Robert Williams added 14. Jaylon Winters put up 11 points and Micah Moored scored 10. Davon O’Neal contributed six points and Nash Morgan added four while Deric Gibbs hit a free throw.
