Vicksburg natives dominated in last week’s collegiate games

Vicksburg, Ms-Vicksburg natives Layla Carter, Malik Franklin, and Janiah Caples put up productive numbers in last week’s basketball game.

Caples and Carter helped Mississippi Delta Community College to a 62-49 win over Copiah Lincoln Community College on Tuesday. Carter led the team with 17 points and seven rebounds, Caples put up 14 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Carter and Caples are both Vicksburg natives and graduates of Vicksburg High School. Mississippi Delta will host Hinds Community College on Monday.

Malik Franklin had a great performance for Jones College last Wednesday. He scored 17 points and snatched two rebounds in the team’s 100-48 win over Piney Woods Postgrad. 

Franklin is a graduate of Vicksburg High School, and Jones College will host Arkansas State University Mid-South on Tuesday night.

Davian Williams also scored seven points for Alcorn State University on Wednesday. Jae’la Smith scored nine points for Pearl River Community College on November 2. Rodrianna Hall scored seven points for Hinds Community College on November 1.
