Warren Central Boys’ Soccer Wraps Summer With Strong Showing

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School’s boys’ soccer program closed out its summer slate with a strong performance at the Richland tournament, highlighted by a pair of dominant showings from both varsity and junior varsity squads.

The varsity team went 2-1 over the weekend, defeating Murrah 5-1 and edging Pearl 2-1 before falling to host Richland 2-0 in the championship match. The team finished second in their division.

Jacob Porter led the varsity offense with three goals across the tournament. Jonah Artman added two goals, while Luke Bond and Nick Lee each chipped in one.

The junior varsity team, coached by Jason York, won their division with a perfect 4-0 record. The JV squad took down Natchez 4-1, Murrah 2-1, Kosciusko 6-0, and Florence 2-1.

Eriam Diaz-Mejras powered the junior varsity attack with eight goals during the tournament. Jake Williamson contributed three goals, Whit Loper added two, and Klein Leist scored one.

The varsity team is led by Head Coach Greg Head, and Jason York is over the junior varsity team. Earlier this summer, WC won the Holmes Community College Tournament and they finished with an overall 7-1 summer record.

The teams will return to training later this fall in preparation for the 2025 regular season.
