Warren Central ninth-grade basketball finishes summer undefeated

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School’s ninth-grade boys’ basketball team capped off an undefeated summer season, finishing 7-0 with all wins coming by double digits.

Led by Head Coach Calvin Morgan, the team posted victories over Clinton, Vicksburg Junior High, Ridgeland, Northwest Rankin, and Madison Middle School.

Standout performers included Henry Trisby, Braylen Selvy, and Jordan Taylor, who led the team in scoring throughout the summer slate.

Many of the players were part of Warren Central Junior High’s eighth-grade squad last season, which captured the Little Six Championship.

Coach Morgan praised the team’s chemistry and discipline, noting their consistent effort throughout each matchup.

“This group plays with a lot of heart and has carried that championship mentality from junior high into their freshman year,” Morgan said. “They’re building something special.”

The team’s regular season will begin later in the year following the conclusion of the football season.
