Warren Central Cheer Squad ready for Nationals

VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Warren Central High School football cheerleading squad is all set to head to Nationals this week. The cheerleaders will soon be in Orlando, Florida for a chance of a lifetime to compete for first place while representing the City of Vicksburg and Warren County as a whole.

WC competed in Nationals last year finishing ninth in the Nation under Head Coach Cameron Coon. Coach Coon has led her team to Orlando four times during her time as Head Coach. Her staff consists of both Sydney Wooten and Antonio Cotton.
WC will begin their travel on Thursday where they have the opportunity to compete throughout Monday. The squad is led by the senior class which consists of Laura Bailey, Tatum Watts, and Amelia King.

“I’m excited and a little nervous but overall we’re all ready to compete and do what we’ve been working hard on forever,” Bailey said.
All three seniors were named All-Americans over the summer.
“I’m looking forward to being with my team and bond with them because this is my last year going and I’m hoping we do well,” King added.
Watts is the lone senior out of the three who has been to Nationals all three years.
“I’m ready to win and spend time with my team and I’m really excited about this opportunity,” Watts said.
WC will compete in the traditional non-tumbling and the game-day routine. The squad received first place honors in both cheer and game day spirit routine categories at the Mississippi State Camp in July.

Six of the Warren Central cheerleading squad were also named All-Americans(Amelia King, Laura Bailey, Tatum Watts, Kinsley Parker, Mckinley Phillips, Maddie Snow).

Last night the cheer squad gave a preview of their routine at a showcase held at Beechwood Elementary in front of a big crowd.
