Warren Central cruises past Greenville in district opener

GREENVILLE, Miss.(VDN) — Warren Central High School defeated Greenville High School 12-0 on Wednesday in its district opener. The win improved the Vikings’ record to 6-6-1 under head coach Randy Broome.

Warren Central jumped out early with two runs in the first inning. Justin Evans scored on a wild pitch, and Tristan Jamison added a sacrifice to bring in another run.

The Vikings broke the game open in the third inning. Trace Hood, Jamison, Jacob Kealhofer and Charlie Roberts each delivered RBI singles. Ryan Steed added a two-run triple, and Caden Cole hit an RBI double. Cole later scored on a passed ball as Warren Central took an 11-0 lead.

Steed drove in the final run with an RBI single in the fourth inning.

Cole (one RBI) and Steed (three RBIs) each finished with two hits. Roberts (one RBI), Hood (one RBI), Jamison (one RBI), Kealhofer, Evans and Justin Greer each recorded one hit.

Nathaniel Moore pitched all four innings, striking out 10 batters in the win.

Warren Central will host Greenville on Friday.
