Warren Central Honors Lynch, Herrle as Athletes of the Year

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central High School has named Maddox Lynch and Melissa Herrle as its 2025 Male and Female Athletes of the Year. The announcement came during the school’s annual athletic banquet held earlier this month.
Maddox Lynch
Lynch stood out as a two-sport athlete, excelling in both football and baseball.

“I feel blessed that God gave me the ability to do what I do,” Lynch said. “I’m just proud of myself that I can do this with the abilities that God gave me.”
On the football field, Lynch etched his name into the Warren Central record books, becoming the school’s all-time leader in receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,358). The standout tight end helped lead the Vikings to back-to-back district championships and a North State Championship appearance in 2024.
On the baseball diamond, Lynch played a pivotal role in three straight district titles and a state championship appearance in 2024. During his senior season, he posted a .350 batting average with 21 hits, 18 RBIs and 35 strikeouts as a pitcher.
Lynch will continue his football career at the University of South Alabama.
Melissa Herrle
Herrle excelled in soccer and volleyball throughout her high school career.

“It feels great, and it was nice to have all of my coaches and teammates there, along with my parents who took me to all of my athletic events,” Herrle said.
In soccer, she helped lead the Lady Vikes to consecutive district titles and North State Championship appearances. Herrle capped off her senior season with seven goals and four assists, earning a spot on the Vicksburg Daily News All-County Team.
On the volleyball court, she guided Warren Central to winning records each year. She was named Team MVP and Offensive Player of the Year, and she earned All-District honors as a senior.
Outside of athletics, Herrle was also a Madrigal singer in the WC choir. She will attend Mississippi State University in the fall, where she plans to major in civil engineering.
